About Dennis James

Following an extensive nationwide search, James debuted the El Capitan Theatre's Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ in downtown Hollywood as the onset of his appointment there as premier House Organist. James has appeared before countless thousands of enthusiastic patrons in the preserved Hollywood landmark, including sellout attendance at every one of his feature silent film performances in the theatre. With regular silent film performances at other various theatres and major concert halls, both solo and together with symphony orchestras, throughout the greater Los Angeles area, James has carved a permanent niche in Hollywood's entertainment history celebrated in his ongoing appointment as Hollywood's International Ambassador of the Silent Film. Beginning with his solo concert debut in 1968 and extended into annual tours worldwide since 1976, Dennis James has built a now 50+ year spectacular career as a theatre organist, all springing from his passion for silent films screened in historic movie palaces. He is well known for utilizing period-authentic music that he meticulously performs in carefully researched styles within his film score revival performances. In his now 50+ year career James has demonstrated his dedication to the continuation of the public theatrical organ performance focusing on his specialty in traditional silent film accompaniment.
